  • As silly as this may seem, the fact that they don't really have a law for complete moratorium of firecrackers makes the Filipinos more free than Americans, or at least freer than Californians.

  • Got a portion of the info from the now deceased Norman Borlaug, some guy who spread improved farming techniques and introduced numerous hybrid cereal grains around the world. The guy got a Nobel for it. I think he was a bit of a romantic existentialist (search his quotes).

  • Organic farming simply does not yield enough food per acre to feed the ever growing human population. I heard it said that if the world made a complete conversion to organic farming methods, 1.6 billion (with a B) people world wide may die of starvation and diseases from malnutrition.

  • don97524, I understand that it is indeed scary that 2A (2nd Amendment) was designed as a way to place a tyranical gov't in check. The only defence for this are the examples from countries that didn't have anything like 2A. Countries like Turkey in 1915-1917.

  • I know this sounds weird, but part of the reason for the high numbers of black bears harvested in NJ is because they are a healthy and successful population. This is due to hunters. Hunters are one of the main contributors to habitat protection.
